5 Ingredients that should never be in your protein powder!

Protein is an essential nutrient for glowing skin and to biuld and keep your muscles toned. Protein powders can help balance hormones, help you with weight loss, aid digestion and detoxification and boost your immunity even whilst you're pregnant.

BUT.... it is important you choose the RIGHT powder that suits your needs and that supports your health in every way. That is why it is VITAL to check the Ingredients list!

The protein that you choose will be absorbed into your body, so please make sure that your protein powder does NOT include these ingredients:

1. Soy Protein

The concerns with this ingredient is the source of production. Soy is a highly processed ingredient made from genetically-modified sources with high pesticide use. The containing chemicals may cause thyroid disturbance and hormone disruption.

2. Artificial Sweeteners

Common sweeteners inclue: Saccharin, Acesulfame K, Sucralose, Aspartame, Splenda, NutraSweet. There’s enough evidence to suggest that these unnatural ingredients can cause major metabolic disruption, including gastric disease, headaches, depression and weight gain.

3. Dextrin/Glucose

These ingredients can raise glycemic load, which may contribute to fat storage. They can also cause gastrointestinal distress in some people.

4. Tickeners & Gums

These are used to thicken protein shakes but they can cause digestive disturbance. A common one is xanthan gum.

5. Hydrolysed Protein

If whey protein undergoes the process of hydrolysing it changes the way the protein interacts with your cells, making it far less effective and potentially allowing toxins to build up. Whey protein isolate is the most useful and most easily converted protein available.

So, where do you find a nutritious, naturally clean wholefood shake?
