''Porridge could be key to a long and healthy life'' says Harvard University

So there is no better time to fuel your morning with a warm bowl of porridge topped with some Purition superseed or a Wholefood oats and banana smoothie.

Here are some health benefits of the natural power of Oats:

Are oats gluten free?

Naturally, oats are gluten free and not related to gluten grain like wheat, rye or barley. However, oats are sometimes contaminated with wheat when grown or processed.

Oats for Weight Loss
Research has found that having a nutritious breakfast rich in fibre, such as oats can help people maintain a healthy weight. Oats are superfoods that give you a feeling of fullness for longer, as they are an excellent source of slow releasing energy.
Oats, Cholesterol & The Immune system
Researchers have identified a substance in oats called beta-glucan which significantly reduces LDL cholesterol. 3 grams of oats fibre ( 1 bowl of oats) daily reduces total cholesterol by 8% to 23%. Beta-glucan has also been found to boost the immune system against bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Power porridge

Making porridge is super easy! For a creamy porridge, slow cooking is the key. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1/2 cup of oats. Cover and reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the oats are soft.  Stir in the milk. You can also add some honey or ground cinnamon depending on what you prefer. If you dont have time, simply place the oats and milk in a bowl and place in the microwave for a minute or two.
Add some bananas & top up with Purition Superseed blend for a great breakfast!
