Baobab Recipes.

Baobab is a nutrient-rich African superfruit. It dries on the branch producing a 100% natural, organic superfood powder that's rich in Vitamin C, high in fibre and has more antioxidants than any fruit. Baobab supports Energy release, A strong immune system and Healthy glowing skin.

These are 3 of our favourite Baobab recipes:

CRANBERRY, APPLE & BAOBAB CRUMBLE

This cranberry, apple and baobab crumble is one of our winter favourites and totally nourishing. Serve with a scoop of dairy-free vanilla ice cream if you're feeling a little more indulgent!

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 tbsp Aduna Baobab Powder
1 cup fresh cranberries
2 apples
1/4 cup non-dairy milk
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp sultanas
1 cup oats
2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

METHOD:

Preheat the oven to 190C.

Boil the cranberries and sliced apple 
in the almond milk, and just as they begin to pop, add the sultanas, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Transfer the gooey mixture into the bottom of a small cooking dish or large ramekin.

Mix together the oats, maple syrup, coconut oil and pumpkin seeds and layer this on top of the fruit mixture in the ramekin.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden.

BAOBAB & RASPBERRY PORRIDGE

Porridge is a great breakfast to keep you energised all morning and this fruity version is one of our favourites. The baobab and raspberries are bursting with potent antioxidants and the almond butter is a great source of healthy fats and protein. 

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS:

1 heaped tbsp Aduna Baobab Powder
3 cups non-dairy milk
3/4 cup oats
2 tbsp almond butter
1/2 cup raspberries
1 banana, sliced (optional)
pinch of cinnamon 

Other toppings: small handful of granola, goji berries, cacao nibs or pomegranate seeds. 

METHOD:

Combine the almond milk, almond butter and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat and warm until nearly simmering. 

Add the oats and raspberries, reduce heat and leave to simmer, stirring regularly, for 5-8 minutes, or until the porridge has reached your desired consistency. 

Remove from the heat, stir in the baobab powder and pour into 2 bowls. Add your preferred toppings and serve immediately.

TROPICAL TURMERIC & BAOBAB SMOOTHIE

Packed full of vitamin C, antioxidants and fibre, this superfood smoothie will transport yo to a tropical island with every sip.  

INGREDIENTS: 

2 heaped tsp Aduna Baobab Powder
1/3 fresh mango
1/2 medium banana
juice of 1/2 small lime
1 tbsp coconut cream 
1/2 tsp ground turmeric 
200-300ml coconut water, depending on desired consistency
desiccated coconut, to serve (optional) 

METHOD: 

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and top with desiccated coconut. Enjoy!
